Dignity, respect, caring and so incredibly helpful in my dad’s situation. I’m beyond thankful that he is able to be here. I HIGHLY recommend this fantabulous establishment.

This is THE NICEST full service long term care facility in the Upper Cumberland. My mother has been in 3 facilities in 11 years and we are so very grateful a spot opened up here! The rooms are fabulous, including private bathrooms and tiled showers, good natural light, phone's and tv's included in the rooms/price. Common areas are beautiful and inviting. The staff is very nice. I was pleasantly surprised it doesn't smell - they have sealed laundry containers in each room. Also, use adult bibs at mealtimes so my Mom always looks clean and fresh. I hope I never have to go into one of these facilities but if I do, this is where I'd want to go.

Someone else posted that you need to make sure your parents' abilities enable them to live fully independently. I agree with that. Good Samaritan's doesn't have any way to provide additional support on an as-need basis or for example, a menu of services. My mom lived there for a year and she was borderline independent at the time she moved in and we knew it would be a struggle. (She had a large dog so she could only live in the cottages.) As time when on, our only option for her to stay there was to hire a private company to stay a minimum of 4 hours at a time. The residents are great but the staff wasn't really very helpful and we felt like they were hoping we moved mom out sooner than we did. The biggest reason for the negative stars is that at the end of my mom's stay there, she had not eating in the dining room for about a month (she had been going daily) and nobody in management ever called us to let us know. Mom didn't drive so couldn't get groceries and management knew she stopped going to the dining room but didn't give us a single phone call to tell us about the situation. My mom didn't tell us she had stopped going to the dining room because there was one woman who was a bully to her. Then mom fell in her house and a neighbor found her so that was the end of Good Samaritans. We kids live far away and Good Samaritan's was my parents' dream of a place to grow old. I think management is too hands-off when it comes to the well-being of the residents who are in independent living. Mom is now in an independent living facility living closer to my sisters and this facility has all the additional services mom needs to live "independently."

Before jumping to this facility, as impressive as it appears, it would be wise to make sure the health of your loved one is not borderline, as you may end up being told weeks after your arrival by management that a sitter is required, your care level has changed, or it is just not a good fit.
