Harmony Homes By The Bay

What a gem this place is! My father in law has been a resident for two months now and we are absolutely delighted with it. As soon as you walk in it has a homey, relaxed vibe. Nothing clinical or institutional feeling. Just welcoming and homey. The staff are all amazing. It’s so wonderful to see how they interact with the residents and genuinely love them like family. The rooms are spacious, clean and everything smells nice. There is a beautiful view from every window and bird feeders galore. I feel very lucky to have found this warm and loving home for my father in law. We can relax and feel good knowing he is safe and very well cared for.

Choosing an assisted living facility felt overwhelming, emotional, and incredibly stressful. From day one, Ashley treated us with such respect and compassion, going above and beyond to guide us. We knew the moment we visited that Harmony Homes by the Bay was the best choice. The facility is consistently clean, and the staff is genuinely engaging, kind and caring. Communication has been excellent; they are easy to reach for any question, no matter how small. We now have two family members living here, and the staff has taken the time to truly know them as individuals, treating them with the dignity they deserve. We are so grateful to the entire team—from the directors, management, activities to food service, housekeeping, and the healthcare professionals—for providing a safe, caring environment to our loved ones.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about this place and their staff. Each one of them treated our mother like a member of their family. The facility is immaculate and well maintained. You will often see the Owen doing the repairs himself as he chats away with all the residents like they were all friends. The activity list is extensive and our mom was never board. More often than not she was tired from keeping so busy! They took her out on some amazing day trips and out for lunches. They seem to have a monthly event that brings the families of the residents together. They support Veterans and are actively supporting various dementia related charities. It is had to trust a place to care for your parent like you believe they should but at Harmony Homes they treated her like family and we were able to breath a bit knowing she was in great hands all the time. I would highly recommend this place for anyone looking for the best in NH.

Harmony Homes By the Bay was first suggested and visited by our family in 2021. Love the staff, love the facility. They offer both a day-stay program and respite stays which are great options and reasonably priced. Beautiful location and wonderful for memory patients. Unfortunately, my father cancelled both his and my mother's long-term care insurance policies in 2018 when his dementia went undiagnosed - it would have covered 4 years for both of them, which is not in their budget for private pay. We have been able to use the respite option for 2-weeks stays and my father is comfortable with returning for his 3rd stay. This is such a relief because he will need to be placed soon and does well with the residents and staff - they all want him to return. We wish he could just move in there - on the Oyster River overlooking conservation land in Durham - he and my mom are both UNH alums! For any family caregiver, you can have peace of mind that your loved ones are being treated kindly, with humor and care.

My wife had a three-week respite stay at Harmony Homes by the Bay. Every aspect of our experience with Harmony Homes was impressive. The admission process was straightforward and efficient, with timely and clear communication from the admissions director. Once in residence, my wife was given excellent care. The staff were remarkable, invariably showing genuine interest in each resident but also demonstrating considerable knowledge and competence in managing their care. I observed a few challenging situations involving residents and each of these was defused with great aplomb by the staff. Moreover, I was very impressed by the positive attitude and good nature of each member of the staff. I often joined my wife at mealtime and was pleased to see a diverse and healthy menu; my wife definitely enjoyed the food. I found the facility, which has a wonderful setting on the Oyster River, to be well designed and very pleasant for both residents and visitors. I am pleased to give Harmony Homes by The Bay my strong recommendation.
