I was recommended to Haven Care by a former employee of Haven Care. I really needed a place that could provide 24-hour care for my aunt because she had dementia. The Haven Care facility was a blessing to me and my family. Not only did the facility staff members meet my expectations for care, they exceeded my expectations. When I came over to visit my aunt, the staff was very professional and made me feel like I was visiting family.

Hospice removed my mom from Fir house and they did so urgently. Because of the neglect, physical and emotional abuse hospice said my mom had a major decline after only 2 months there. I raised concerns about the caretaker early on and the individual was then working 24 and 36 hour shifts exhasberating the unsafe and abusive situation. My mom is not the only person removed from this house by hospice for poor care and abuse. If you have a loved one in that house you might consider moving them. Unfortunately after having others removed from Fir house they didn't replace the caretaker. In fact, the individual is still there and they just brought in another resident last week. They took my mom knowing what she would be subjected to. I do not recommend Haven Cares Fir house. After the company saw this review I was called and they attempted to intimidate me and bully me. I was accused of posting a slanderous review. I told the individual that my review is the truth and I will let attorneys handle this and I ended the call. Let me be clear. This review is meant to do one thing, to protect others from being abused. You have a right to know so you can make an informed decision. I will share a couple of the many actual events. 1.) The care taker was in the restroom with my mom standing right next to her. My mom was trying to get up she cried I'm gonna fall 3 times. The caretaker didn't even look at her, didn't utter a single word and she let my mom fall backwards. The caretaker did this after my mom had taken a fall a week or so earlier and had severe bruising on her back, bottom, all the way down the inside of her entire left leg, her ankle and even her peri area was bruised. This caretaker knew my mom was a fall risk and still refused to help her. I have proof of this. 2.) On another day the caretaker was in the bathroom but closed the door part way. I could hear my mom saying ooo ooo in a fearful way. Then the caretaker barked get up. My mom cried and said, I was trying to get up and you pushed me. These incidents were heartbreaking. I have no intention of slandering. My only goal is to help others who are still in the house and to share what my mom went through at Fir house. Potential residents are entitled to truthful, factual and provable information. Here are pics of the bruising The elderly bruise easily and the brusing does spread. As you can imagine this was very concerning to me and my son.

My Granny lives at the Dogwood House in Rio Rancho, and I love to visit her there! At first, I was nervous because I didn’t know what it would be like, but it’s such a nice home and Dimitra who works there made me feel very welcome. Granny enjoys showing me her garden and we like to sit outside on the patio – the backyard is very nice!

My mother in law needed to move in to a memory care facility and we thought it would be horrible for her and the rest of us. But it has turned out to be good for everyone - safe for her and most of all, Dmitra at the dogwood house has been able to help her remain engaged and useful. Diane was a professional social worker and as a resident, she befriends everyone and likes to help with anything that needs done. My other experiences at a memory care facility was they kept people sitting down, TV would be on loud and discouraged interaction - it wasn't good. I have only positive things to say about Dmitra and the dogwood house.

I paint with the residents every few months. The caregivers are exceptional. Loving, thoughtful and professional.
