Heritage Woods

I've never experienced a more warm and inviting atmosphere as I have when my father became a resident at Heritage Woods. The management and staff are loving and kind and sincerely care about every resident. I would highly recommend Heritage Woods to anyone searching for an assisted living facility for their loved one.

I take care of a relative who moved to Heritage Woods some considerable time ago. I'm writing this in December and wanted at this time of year to recognize the truly caring, hard-working and amazing day-to-day staff of HW in Agawam. I interact regularly with nine or ten people who are involved weekly or daily with her and they are just phenomenal with her and keeping me informed: Bri, Daisy (housekeeper extraordinaire!), Kathy (master chef but also so involved in the lives of the residents in her area), Jasmine, Wanda, Day, Dessa, Donna, Patty, and a special shout-out to Michelle, who's really saved me stress when we added the laundry service (they have great options for the residents who can do their own, but Michelle is so, so good with the residents, and so carefull with their wash). And I've missed some people I'm sure. The most important thing in assisted living is how the day-to-day folks help your relative and I couldn't ask for better. And that's not to say that the rest of the admin staff and other departments haven't been there when we've needed them because they definitely have. Nowhere is perfect -- there are some issues with the building, the parent company is having some controversy, and not all the changes that have happened have always made sense to us. But this is a challenging field and I wanted to recognize the people doing the hard work everyday, and let you know how great the staff is.

We toured a few different Assisted Living facilities and chose Heritage Woods for a many reasons. The facility itself is very clean and has a homey feel. There are different common areas to sit and gather both inside and outside. My mother's room is a good size and is set up so that it feels like three separate rooms. She has plenty of space for her personal things from home. The staff - administration and nursing - has been very welcoming and responsive from day one. Whenever I call they answer my questions promptly and efficiently. There are a variety of activities for residents to attend. My mother was very, very resistant to leave her home and move here, and I never thought she would be happy. It has taken just a short time and I'm so happy to say she is adjusting much better than expected and has made friends and is happy! I know the supportive staff has had a lot to do with this. Thank you Heritage Woods for making this difficult decision a very positive experience for my mother and our family!

My husband, who has early onset dementia, was recently a respite resident at Heritage Woods in Agawam. The staff was pleasant and professional making us both as comfortable with his first respite stay as possible. The facility and room was very clean and well appointed. I felt confident he experienced just the right measure of assistance and independence. Everyone we encountered was very supportive and helpful. I found it surprisingly affordable as well. Thank you, everyone for a great experience. We would not hesitate to use Heritage Woods again.

Heritage Woods was the third facility for my husband, and it has definitely been the charm! Heritage Woods has been a gift to my husband, who is on the memory care unit. This is the most peaceful and content he has been in the past five years - the staff are so attentive, skilled, and genuinely kind. They have regular activities, but also bring in new activities that they know specific residents will enjoy. A few days after arriving on the unit, the director noticed my husband wasn't really enjoying breakfast, asked him what he would prefer, and ever since then, that's what shows up for him every morning. The medical staff is also excellent and communicate with us with questions or concerns. I can't begin to thank the remarkable, talented, and devoted staff who not only provide such excellent care to their residents, but also such peace of mind to the family members.
