Highly recommend Kala and the entire staff at HomeLife! After a very frustrating experience trying to get my father into another facility, I found HomeLife and Kala/Roxane made the process so easy and painless, it was a dream.. Since my father has been there, the care has been amazing and the care wonderful. I highly recommend!

Several months ago would have been higher. The caretakers are kind and great. Now, the administrative staff is very understaffed. There is no administrator at this time. The care services person is being pressed to do both jobs, and is capable, but seems overwhelmed with double duty. Basic care like blood pressure readings and minor wound care seem like big asks. The vans continually breakdown, slowing down trips. Bright spots are activities and caregivers! .I hope we see improvement soon.

My aunt stayed at HomeLife on Glynco for nearly two years, and we have nothing but good things to say about Mr. Herrington and his staff. She had severe dementia and was in the memory care unit at the facility until she passed away this year. Her physical health declined sharply while she was under their care, and the staff did their best to make increasingly significant accommodations for her, working with doctors and hospice staff to ensure she stayed as comfortable as possible. The facility was not only lovely, but also extremely clean and safe, and my aunt’s room had a lovely view of a duck pond in the backyard. We were able to bring in her own furniture, which was helpful to minimize her confusion at the move, and the staff did everything they could to ensure she had the little things she needed to make her feel at home. The best thing about HomeLife, though, was the kindness of the staff. Mr. Herrington was always gracious and warm with us, and he handled every issue that came up with professionalism and care, especially when my aunt had to be taken to the hospital or needed outside services. The staff at HomeLife is extremely compassionate and worked incredibly hard to make sure my aunt was calm, comfortable, and as happy as possible. A number of times, I have seen or heard the staff interacting with residents when they thought no one was around, and I can honestly say they treat each person with as much compassion, affection, and empathy as would their residents’ most loving family members if they were there. After my aunt passed, the staff was so kind. When I came for her things, multiple employees stopped me to say how much they loved and missed my aunt, and I truly feel they treated her like they would their own grandmother. Some were brought to tears after her passing, saying how much they missed “my baby” or “my sweetie,” which meant the world to us. Even though my aunt’s dementia made her very unlikely to have positive impressions of strangers and strange environments, she would always tell me how nice the place was and how very, very sweet the staff were to her. They gave her the best care anyone could have given her, and despite how difficult the decision was to place my aunt in a memory care facility, she was in the safest place possible with the most capable and caring staff we could have wanted for her. I highly recommend HomeLife to anyone looking for an assisted living or memory care facility, and I sincerely appreciate every single kind word, sweet smile, and gentle hand the staff gave my aunt every day during her time there.

My Mom has lived at Homelife on Glynco for a little over a year in an assisted living apartment and she loves it there! We couldn't ask for any sweeter caregivers, nurses, staff, activity directors and management. The food and kitchen staff are great...we've eaten lunch with her in the dining room many times. The grounds are quiet and well kept and the huge front veranda with it's rocking chairs will draw you in! Mom has the smallest of the apartments, but she has plenty of room for her bed, a large chest of drawers, a large nightstand, bookcase, recliner, and there's room for a small sofa! We were so blessed to have found such a caring environment for Mom! Thank you, Homelife!

The clean, stately facilities cover the fact that admin is aloof & out of touch with what actual caregivers do, which is no different than many similar facilities. As with all elder care facilities, it's up to you to be an advocate for your loved one!
