It's a nice place but when you first walk in it has a musty smell to it.

We moved my mom to Magnolia Manor about 3 years ago. She was in independent living up until January of this year. The independent living there is awesome. There are so many activities and everyone is so friendly and caring. It's really like a family. If I were rating Magnolia Manor solely on independent living, I would rate it 4.5/5 (food is not very good). The reason for the overall 3/5 is because of the assisted living. The level of care offered is minimal at best. You pretty much have to be able to do most things on your own. While help with showers and dressing is supposed to be included, when my mom's private care giver who normally did that for her was on vacation, we were told we needed to hire someone because my mom took too long. Mom was allowed to push her pendant for someone to assist in getting her to and from the bathroom however there was only stand-by assistance with her walker and single person transfer with a wheel chair. A few would help her get in and out of the wheelchair in the bathroom and help her with her clothes when she was struggling but there were others who would offer no assistance at all. When I brought that to the attention of the AL director she outright said she didn't believe it and that my mom should have asked for help. The last couple of weeks she was there we had to hire sitters at night because she occasionally got up by herself and would end up on the floor. Needless to say we were paying almost as much for outside help as for the cost of AL there. There are so many other assisted living communities that offer different levels of care and the cost is comparable to Magnolia Manor. So if you need more than 3 meals a day, medication management and light housekeeping, find another Assisted Living community. In conclusion, independent living there is awesome, but the AL, not so much. Update 6/16/25: I have changed the rating from 3/5 to 1/5. My mom checked out of Magnolia Manor in Richmond Hill on May 28. She should have been credited with 3 days since she left before the end of the month. Instead her checking account was debited $4595 for June. Upon calling the corporate office, I learned that the Magnolia Manor business office did not check her out with the corporate office. I called the Richmond Hill campus about it but I did not even receive an apology. It's been 2 1/2 weeks and I'm still waiting on reimbursement. I do not recommend Magnolia Manor on the Coast. New management is definitely needed.

My Grandmother lived at Magnolia Manor in Richmond Hill for 21 years. We have recently moved my Mother in there and she is just as happy as my grandmother was. The staff is wonderful, and the activities can keep her active all day long. Thanks to the whole staff for making her life eventful and enjoyable.

After reading some negative reviews, felt like posting in response. Mom's been here since 2012 in assisted living, then independent living, and now back to assisted living. Overall, the management, staff and, accommodations have been terrific. I see and talk to the staff as they come in/out of Mom's apartment; they're generally good-humored and quite patient. While I would be aggrieved if Mom had an emergency her family wasn't informed of, that hasn't happened to us. In fact, the director made a point of calling us during a hurricane evacuation to tell us where they were and all was fine. I think the prices are quite competitive. There are other places that are nicer looking (newer), but the accommodations are much smaller.

We are very pleased with our experience living at Magnolia Manor on the Coast. It feels like family. The director and all the staff have contributed much to this good experience. They are very caring and accommodating in every aspect of living here. Residents are encouraged to make their living arrangements as nearly like their own home as possible, and there are activities and services to meet every need. Meeting and getting to know the residents, from various backgrounds and places has been great, also. Wonderful people! We’re having fun!
