McArthur Manor Assisted Living

We feel fortunate that our mother is a resident at McArthur Manor. She has dementia and has been with them for three years now. We've had our ups and downs but the staff has helped keep her healthy and safe.We are also happy that they suggested Adoration Hospice be included to help with her care. They all work together to give mother the care she needs. They will never ask us to move mother to another facility. Thank you all!

While the staff at this assisted living facility treated my father kindly, it became very clear that they were not equipped to handle the behaviors and needs associated with dementia or Alzheimer’s. What’s most frustrating is that they were not forthcoming about their limitations in this area when we first moved him in. Over the course of six months, they sent my father to geriatric psych wards three separate times, rather than managing his care on-site in a more supportive way. Instead of addressing his dementia-related behaviors with understanding, their approach was to medicate. At one point, he was so heavily sedated that he was barely functioning—walking around like a zombie, which was both heartbreaking and infuriating to witness. He is now in a memory care facility specifically trained to care for those with dementia, and the difference is night and day. They do not view his symptoms as “bad behavior” but as part of the illness. Since transitioning, he has been taken off all of the psych medications that were prescribed at the previous facility and is doing well. This experience has been a difficult lesson. If your loved one is living with dementia, I urge you to make sure the facility you choose is truly prepared to meet their specific needs—not just in words, but in action.

McArthur Manor is the most wonderful assisted living facility ever - there are so many amazing things about it and I feel very fortunate to have them caring for my mom. The private rooms and common areas are always super clean, the staff are the most compassionate you will ever find and respond to her calls for assistance immediately. The meals are delicious and home-cooked, the activities are all day long and again, I just can’t say enough about how kind and gentle all of the staff are - it’s not just a job for them but they truly put their hearts into serving others.

The staff is so friendly and they take excellent care of my grandmother. She celebrated her 100th birthday and the staff did an amazing job organizing a special party for her. The facility is beautiful inside and out. A wonderful waterfall to sit by and visit and rocking chairs outside as well. The staff does an amazing job with fun activities everyday and keeping the residents busy. So glad we found McArthur Manor.

My mother is a very active and independent women, and she has all she needs to stay happy and healthy. When she's happy, I'm happy. She loves McArthur Manor and the people that care for her there.
