My husband went to Montereau Skilled Nursing for rehabilitation after a revision fusion surgery. This was a terrible decision. The "rehabilitation" was about 25 minutes Monday through Thursday with a physical therapist. No PT on the weekends and everyone was herded into a circle PT situation on Fridays which consisted of toe taps and silly group games. The rest of the time he spent either in a wheelchair or bed. The night staff was especially poor. Several sitters I hired to stay with him at night reported that the charge nurse was asleep at the desk and the two aids for the floor were also just sitting in the nurse station area playing with their phones or napping. The call light board was lit up like a Christmas tree with patients needing help. Pathetic. My husband had several falls because they "don't believe in bed alarms" to keep patients safe. Their solution was to lay a dirty mat on either side of his bed and then lower the bed so he just rolled off the bed and then would try to crawl to the bathroom because no one would come to help him. He was send by ambulance to the St. Francis ER 2 times for CT scans because of falls and they checked him several times for UTI's because they let the patients lay all night in bed with wet briefs and bedding. Showers were another issue. I had to beg for him to get a shower. His shower schedule was supposed to be Monday, Wednesday and Friday but that never happened. If he got one, it was because I tracked down an aid and begged her/him to give him a shower. Medication is another issue. The patients do not wear an ID bracelet and the tech dispensing drugs never tells you what is being given to you. So you don't have a clue if you're getting the correct drug. Because of my husband's heart condition and Parkinson's, the timing of his meds is crucial. I would remind the med tech that it was time for his med and the reply was "I'll get to it when I can." Because of all the falls he sustained at Montereau, his surgery is null and void with additional damage to his spine. Due to age, he is unable to endure another surgery so he will be in a wheelchair for the rest of his life. I would highly recommend PAM rehabilitation for anyone recovering from any kind of orthopedic surgery. If you care for your loved one, do NOT send them to Montereau skilled nursing.

My mother has been a resident of the Health Center at Montereau for over a year. The staff of the Chateau and the Health Center in general have treated Mom like she’s their own, with fun, respect, and genuine love. Thank you, Montereu, for providing a level of care that goes beyond my expectations of comfort and joy!

My Mom was sent to the skilled nursing facility. The list is long of concerns we have as her family. She is a cancer patient and had just underwent major surgery. I realize they are short staffed, but that plays a crucial part in the lack of care she has received. A bad bed was the first issue, then the recliner's foot rest had to be propped up with a trash can. She was put on a med that required her to be weighed daily and that was not done until I got there and requested it in person. The length of time she had to wait after pressing the call light was a huge issue. Then this morning I received a call from her in tears because she had been without a crucial medication for almost 24 hrs. We have yet to be given an explanation as to why this medicine was not given to her, leaving her to suffer in pain all night. Disappointed in this place is an understatement and I would not recommend anyone to this facility.

My mom was placed here for “skilled nursing” after some time in the hospital to help strengthen her and continue to heal. This was a terrible experience for her and our family. My mom had a debilitating stroke several years ago and struggles to speak and get around. Majority of the staff there took advantage of that. My mom was left in bed for days because it was “easier” than getting her up. It literally took them HOURS to respond to a call light. I personally had to give her showers because they didn’t. They lost her belongings with no remorse. Seriously only giving them one star because I have to. If you love your loved ones, please do NOT send them to the “skilled nursing” section of this place. While it looks beautiful, it heavily lacks in patient care and customer service.

Montereau is a very special community. I'm really impressed with the variety of dining options. The spa/shop on-site is one of the most unique features, and the sweeping views are incredible.
