My mother was a resident here for approximately 2-3 years. At first it was fine. Well staffed, caring aides. However, as time went on most of the amenities mentioned in their info pack never materialized. Staff grew smaller, long wait for assistance, meal quality dropped, meds were late. Had to hunt down an aide for assistance and just poor quality care. Was nothing like their info pack stated. When calls were made to administrative head of facility many were often not returned for days. Transportation to Drs appointments had to be reconfirmed time and time again. If you are considering this facility, do your homework. I am sure you could find something more appropriate, better staffed and more caring then this place. Would not recommend this facility.

My mom received excellent and loving care while at Orchard Grove. She enjoyed watching the deer and the birds from her window. There was a nice community atmosphere. The staff was attentive, and mom knew each one by name and spoke of them as though they were her family. Thank you for the care you provided.

It's a beautiful place. My mom just can't get used to living in one room. The staff is very nice.

Orchard Grove is a perfect "in-between stop". When you need a little more than some Assisted Living places provide, but you don't need full skilled nursing. The resident rooms are quite large compared to some places and come with some furnishings provided if you like. Staff and maintenance help to keep them very clean and safe. My mom has been there a couple years now, and it's been a good home for her most of the time. Initially she had a catheter and they helped with that. The visiting nurse can also go in for care. She also receives assistance with meds and bathing. Staff is kind and helpful. There's always at least one staff person on duty in each house, around the clock. They do rotate staff between the 3 houses which upsets the apple cart for residents who need consistency and don't adapt easily to changes. They start to build trust and residents become comfortable with who is helping them shower or other personal needs. New staff coming in aren't familiar with individual situations or needs. There may be notes in the computer but it's not the same as knowing the resident and current circumstances or challenges. The only thing mom consistently points out (and I've seen myself in the past) is the food. While it's planned carefully by dietary, the execution by various staff isn't always good perhaps. Some food when I've been there was quite hard and the elderly residents could not eat it. Mom mentions that too. Last year there were some bad feelings when they no longer served side salads with their main meal. Perhaps cost-cutting measures? There are alternative menu items if you ask however so there's enough food to eat. Meals are included in the cost of living there. We've been taking in some canned soups and prepared meals when mom needs something different. It's been a rough year with the COVID isolation but we are fortunate they're on one level so we can at least see one another. Staff has also helped mom with video chats but the wifi in the building, at least in mom's room, drops out constantly. It's ok though if she sits in the main common area. Because of quarantine, there has been no hair salon service on site like normal which has been hard for mom to understand not having perms and haircuts. I was informed that on-site podiatrist visits were going to start up again. The maintenance staff made little enclosures recently so window visits can continue, and we're very thankful for their efforts! The facility is newer and quite comfortable, with an outdoor porch and patio at each building. It didn't seem like landscaping was kept up this summer as it had previously but it was an unusual year all around, right? Indoors there are nicely furnished common areas where the 12 residents of each house can be in a living room/dining room "home" feeling. They went from dining tables for 6 down to new tables of four which caused some upset and also made group activities a bit harder. There's a small side room like a library, and our family has used that for a family holiday meal or meetings. We highly recommend taking a tour and checking Orchard Grove out.
