What an exceptional place! The staff goes above and beyond for the care of their residents (we specifically want to shout out Robyn, Renee- in PT, and Courtney- with AW). These ladies went avove and beyond even working with us after normal business hours and answering endless questions. My mother stayed in the independent living side and we couldn't say enough great things about her/our experience there. The rooms are spacious and clean, some even have a balcony to get some fresh air. There are many food choices for each meal along with daily activities and tasks. I would always see residents out and about in different parts of the building and they all seemed to be enjoying themselves. If your looking for a place for a loved one, this is the place!

Park Place at Winghaven has been a Godsend for our family. We were scrambling trying to find a placement for Dad. Robyn, Brandon, and Megan were so helpful. They went above and beyond to help place Dad in a timely manner and were so caring and compassionate throughout the whole process. The facility is clean and inviting and the staff very friendly. We are truly blessed to be able to call this place home for Dad.

Well….where shall I start? My dad has lived at Park Place Winghaven (independent living) for the past 2 1/2 years and our experience there was wonderful. Despite my dad having early onset dementia upon moving in he and I managed very well. Staff was great until management changed and the director position became a talking head in the corner office and that position became a revolving door. As I said, even with that, our experience in independent living was enjoyable for both me and my dad. In early January my dad wound up in the hospital due to declining health. After a second hospital stay it was clear to me that his memory/cognitive abilities had severely diminished. I knew it was time to move him to a more skilled/supervised environment. Since we had a good experience at Park Place and we loved the community I chose to move him to memory care or what they now call Valeo, whatever that means. Just a fancy term for memory care I guess. Due to the fact that my dad had to be released to a skilled facility my paperwork was rushed, which is what I needed at that time and I appreciated that. Well….that’s where the nightmare began. Right off the bat we were sitting in his new room waiting for some intake process which I was told would include reviewing his care plan, body check for sores/wounds, weigh in (which is the only thing that happened) and what I thought would be some sort of orientation. We sat there in his room. Where do we go, what do we do. My dad had no clue where he was, how to find his room which was scary for both of us. Well finally the activity person showed up and wisked him off to sit in lobby and wait for dinner. Ok? I was assured that he would acclimate quickly when they got him in the groove/flow of his new environment. I trusted that and decided to let them do their job. As I frequented the environment several times morning, noon and night it was obvious that my dad was not receiving the the care which was outlined in his care plan. No one even really knew what his needs were. There’s some sort of app that they use and some of the staff weren’t quite sure what I was talking about? Things just went downhill from there….soiled clothes throughout the day (he’s incontinent but was supposed to be “toileted” every 2 hours, medication mismanagement, lost shoes, no daily weights (critical for his congestive heart failure) a severe rash because of the soiled depends and many more egregious missteps. Spoke to Director in detail about my concerns and was assured they would be addressed and rectified. Well…I pulled him out after 6 days and moved him to a real memory care facility. Moral of my story, they need stick to what they do well which is Independent Living and leave the specialized care to other facilities that specialize in that area. To anyone thinking of moving their loved one there please do your homework. Ask for licensure, staff credentials, who’s in charge, medication procedures as well as read the other not-so-savory reviews and anything else you can think to ask. I did not do that because of my overall satisfaction with the other part of facility. So my mistake. And to top it off they are holding me to the 30 day moving notice policy despite said concerns and they will take my money for the month of February. I’m saddened and disappointed in the community my dad loved and called home. Do your homework……..

We had a pleasant visit with our sister in law. Our nephew, his husband and our great nephew were there too. The nurses checked in on our sister in law as they always do.
