When our family faced one of the hardest decisions of our lives, finding the right place for my mom with advancing dementia, we found more than just a facility at Lavender Pines. We found a place filled with heart, respect, and genuine commitment to dignity. From the moment we walked through the doors, the warmth from the staff struck us. They didn’t treat her like a number, they listened to her stories, allowed her to bring her favorite quilt from home, and made sure she felt seen and heard every single day. The quiet kindness, the laughing small groups in the common area, the soft music drifting in the lounge, these things matter when so much of the rest of your world feels uncertain. Watching Mom settle in, knowing she could wake to familiar faces, participate in meaningful activities at her pace, and rest knowing someone skilled was always nearby, we finally felt relief. At Lavender Pines Fort Mill, everything is done with purpose: medication and care level changes handled seamlessly, rooms that reflect personalities rather than institutions, and a team ready to respond any time, not just on the clock but as advocates and allies. If you are looking for a place where memory-care means being treated with compassion, where every moment is crafted toward safety and joy, where your loved one won’t just be safe, but will be valued and uplifted, then choose Lavender Pines. For our family, it wasn’t just the best decision, it was a lifeline.” -C.Watson

I cannot say enough positive things about my experience connecting with Nikki Simeone, Director of Sales at Lavender Hills Fort Mill Memory Care. From our very first conversation she was professional, compassionate and deeply knowledgeable about memory-care for seniors living with Alzheimer’s or dementia. Nikki guided me through the intake and placement process with clarity 24/7 licensed staffing, RN oversight, transparent all-inclusive pricing with no hidden fees, and same-day tours for families in crisis. She genuinely cares about the families and the residents. Lavender Hills is a warm, structured environment where safety, dignity and individualized care are front and center. If you’re looking for a partner in senior memory care who listens and delivers, Nikki and her team are outstanding.

My mother has been a resident at this facility for the past 7.5 years, moving in just months after it opened. During that time, it has gone through three different ownership groups (Autumn Leaves, The Pearl/Phoenix Living, and now Twenty 20 Management). Since Twenty 20 purchased the facility about a year ago, they are already on their second executive director. Over the past year, I have observed a significant decline in staffing and care. Many of the dedicated caretakers who had been with the facility 3–5 years have left, and daily staffing now appears minimal. While management states there is an 8:1 resident-to-staff ratio, that number includes administrative staff who are not providing direct care. While managers may occasionally appear in the dining room or activities, they are not toileting, changing, or consistently caring for residents. Most concerning, my mother was recently admitted to the hospital with severe bedsores on her buttocks. The sores align with the outline of an incontinence brief, suggesting she was not changed regularly. In 7.5 years at this facility, she has never before been hospitalized for bedsores. Equally troubling, management refuses to take accountability for the employee cutbacks and the dire situations these decisions create for residents. Instead of addressing the problems, they dismiss concerns while residents’ health and dignity suffer. On top of this, the facility itself has never looked worse — a clear reflection of neglect at every level. I am deeply disappointed in the decline in care under current management and hope they take immediate action to address staffing, accountability, and overall quality of care before more residents suffer.

Our family has been so happy with the care my wife has received at The Pearl. It has given us each a peace of mind. Dementia is a very difficult disease on the entire family. The staff is well trained on how to manage the residents. I have witnessed their special care in so many instances. The facility itself is always clean. The rooms are large and the common areas are spacious. My wife is always dressed in clean clothing. They keep meals and snacks on a regular schedule. They also have special activities for their residents. I personally appreciate the time the staff spends with me, keeping me informed about my wife's condition and things she may need. Thank you to the staff, well done.

My wife has been a resident at The Pearl for 3 years now and thus far I’ve been very happy with my choice. It’s given me a “peace of mind” knowing that she is safe, well taken care of, and not neglected. The Pearl specializes in the unique behaviors of people with dementia which can, at times, be demanding. The workers are trained in this specialty as well as the management staff whom regularly interact with the residents too. Residents are treated with respect and dignity and individually are not ignored for long periods of time. Routines are important, such as meals and snacks, which are always the same times each day. I like the cleanliness and layout of the facility. My wife’s room and bathroom are always cleaned every new day. Her clothes are always fresh and clean. Overall I’ve very happy that I picked The Pearl to care for my wife.
