It is interesting that you suddenly do not know who I am when last week you threatened to file a police report because I posted a negative review. My mother was a resident of River Oaks until 4 weeks ago when we moved her. She was on a Mechanical Soft Finger Foods diet. The first photo is what River Oaks considers "finger foods". Thankfully my sister was visiting the night this was served (December 18, 2025) as a meal to our mother to witness it. I wonder - how is someone who can not use utensils supposed to eat pureed food? The other three pictures are examples of what she has been served for meals at her new facility. To say she is loving the new food she is getting is an understatement. She has even expressed, clearly, how much more she is enjoying the food at her new facility.

This has got to be the worse facility I’ve ever seen. Patients are mistreated, neglected, families are lied to, bullied and the facility is roach infested. “See pictures attached”. The food is hideous and the staff doesn’t go by what diets residents are supposed to have. Personal items come up missing and so much more. Please think twice before choosing this place for your loved one.

Edited: I want to edit my review. Here is why. First, my sister posted a 1 star google review yesterday. Shortly after posting I got a call from the director who was yelling at me that she was filing a police report against me for my sisters review. I asked how what she said had anything to do with me. She stated that b/c I was POA it was my (can’t remember is she said my fault or my responsibility). I do not control what other people write. I did call my sister to have her edit the post to take out names and photos that shouldn’t have been included. Otherwise, I agreed with the post. They commented back to her post that the POA’s concerns did not agree with her post and they have tried to reach out about our concerns. Both statements are false. Within hours of her post they mysteriously received 5, 5 star reviews. Call that what you want. I do not appreciate being bullied, lied to, or lied about. I am so thankful that my mother’s health is improving. The facility she went to quoted yesterday in a care plan mtg that the reports they received before my mother’s transfer do not at all align with the observations of my mother in person. I would also like to point out that my mother was placed on hospice with Caris (who I HIGHLY recommend) while she was at River Oaks. We have sense learned this was as an effort to keep my mother there so they didn’t lose the money. We are currently discussing plans to discharge her from hospice because she doesn’t qualify now that she has improved in her health. As an “assisted living” Lakewood and River Oaks are ok for a bare minimum experience. My mother went there on Choices and it’s a get what you pay for experience. I would give a 3 star maybe 4 star for the assisted living. But for whatever reason my mother became “sedated” and needed extra assistance and they don’t have the ability to provide that care. I would have a very different opinion of the facility had they been honest with us when my mother declined and encouraged us to move her to the next step at that point rather than keeping her for the financial gain they received. *** My mother started at Lakewood place and was moved to Riveroaks. She had a severe decline in her cognitive level and it happened very quickly. They told us she would need to move to a nursing home. We moved her to a nursing home in Maryville and she’s literally a different person! We have had the best visits with her this past week. It’s been around 8-10months since she’s talked much, laughed, colored, eaten at a normal pace, participated in activities. She stayed in a sedated state at Riveroaks. She’s been at the new facility for less than a week and we have seen a huge improvement. I don’t know if it’s just environmental or if there was some questionable things going on but it makes me wish we would have moved her a year ago. They don’t have the staff to care for residents who need help. My mother would be sitting in a poopy diaper or it would be so full of pee that she’d be soaked and a puddle under her most of the time that I went. At times it would take 15-20min of me searching the building to find someone to change her. We caught the staff lying to us about care, meds, & things that she was/was not doing. And don’t get me started on the business office staff…. It’s crooked. Do not put your loved one at this facility!!!

I don’t have much nice to say about River Oaks. My grandmother was a patient here recently and the care she received was pitiful. There were never enough staff for her to be properly taken care of and she suffered as a result. She went from talking, being happy to rapidly declining very quickly. She no longer knew her family and was wheelchair bound. Once she got to a point that she couldn’t move around well, she was left in her nasty diapers for way too long due to lack of care on the staff side. Another thing that was pitiful was the food that residents were provided. My grandmother was on a mechanical soft diet and was fed blended hot dogs and kraut. Not sure how that would be appetizing to anyone. Moral of the story we were extremely disappointed and I would hope no one sends their family here.

I have a family member that is a resident at this facility. The caregivers have been wonderful with her and she really enjoys being here. All of my interactions with the staff members have been great! They all go above and beyond to make sure that their residents are well cared for in a safe environment!
