My son is a resident at South Haven we have been so pleased with their attentiveness to him. He feels very welcome. The home is clean and extremely comfortable. He enjoys being in the country and being able to walk in the woods.

We came here for a visit and the facility made my jaw drop. The facility was absolutely disgusting, and needs a thorough deep clean as well as some pest services [multiple ant hills and mole holes which were trip hazards as my children and I tripped several times], and as the residents call it, there was a "diseased cat" walking around the premises. We all ended up with headaches due to the terrible smells of mold and what smells like dogs. The people who live their even admit to the facility not owning a vacuum when I requested one to vacuum up my kids messes. The restrooms toilet did not flush [my husband is a plumber and even told them that it needed a new flush valve], and everything was a brown color as of it has never been cleaned. Most of the people who lived there either played on their phones or smoked cigarettes the entire time - no real brain stimulating activities. I do not agree with allowing smoking, and wasting government tax dollars for cigarettes. Maybe they should be working on life skills with the residents to help them find jobs, and get back into society living on their own. It seems as though too many of them play the depression cards to get out of living in the real world, and maybe this home is just in it to collect their money? Hmm... The person we visited hasn't had their haircut in a long time due to staff not wanting to take them "into town", and she ended up having a friend pay for it. Staff do not make the women wear proper undergarments, as shown in the last photo. The staff also don't assist with ambulating, and instead 2 young people who live there have to assist the elderly with ambulating. The resident we visited with was prescribed a cane, and apparently it did not follow through on admission. One of the roommates stole money as well, thus the person we visited had their cellphone shut off for an extended period of time. Everyone looks so run down, and as if no one assists with personal hygiene, as one of the residents presented a foul cheesy smell. The walls were chipped up, and the toilet seat has exposed wood which is a health hazard as wood is porous. I also found it interesting that there are signs posted by the kitchen threatening that if a resident walks into the kitchen that they will be evicted immediately, and staff written up. I hope the state gets involved and cleans this place up and provides more staffing! I wouldn't even send my worst enemy here!
