SUNRISE OF HAVERFORD

First off, be aware that many of the 5-star reviews appear to be fake. You’ll notice that a lot of them don’t refer to any particular family member and instead use generic marketing language. In fact, one of the reviews is literally from the executive director. She’s not even trying to hide it. Our actual experience with Sunrise of Haverford went very poorly. At first, they were great at saying the right things and telling us what we wanted to hear to get our business. But, as you might expect, their true colors showed very quickly. Once the money started flowing their way, they became complacent and lazy. Communication was poor. Our family member was in the Reminiscence (memory care) unit. Sunrise seems to want their memory care residents to be like zombies who can be plopped in front of a TV all day. The “activities” for this unit are essentially non-existent. Don’t be fooled by the calendar of events. I won’t go into the specifics of our case out of respect for my family member, but I want people considering this Sunrise to know that they may not be getting what’s advertised. To be fair, there are some staff members who are very friendly and kind. But in my opinion, Sunrise is a large corporation that cares more about selling and profits than about providing good care for a fair price.

Sunrise of Haverford sets a high standard for senior living. The staff is attentive, professional, and genuinely caring, and the community is welcoming, well-maintained, and truly feels like home. A wonderful place families can feel confident choosing!

Sunrise of Haverford has been a perfect new home for my mother who is 87 with physical and cognitive needs. When my husband and I arrived for an initial tour, Laurey, the Director of Sales, was so welcoming, supportive and informative. We learned all about the community and saw a room that same day. The next day I placed a deposit. Laurey and the team have been so accomodating with every request to get my mom's room ready and to help me get everything (paperwork, meds, etc) we needed in order. We moved my mom in last week and she is very happy. Her apartment is beautiful, every staff member is wonderful with her and are there to meet her needs quickly and efficiently, and she loves the atmosphere of the facility. She is starting to get involved in activities and has praised the activities coordinator. She is enjoying the food as well. I have spoken to both the business officer Amy and the nurse coordinator Ashley and have been very pleased with all outcomes for the health and safety of my mom! It is the place to be for us. Damien gave a wonderful tour. He was a warm and gracious host. The community was beautiful, but the highlight really was Damien’s tour. He knew all the answers to my questions and put me to ease. Thank you, Damien!

Walked in just looking for a place that I might place my husband who suffers from dementia. The first thing I noticed upon walking thru the door was the smell of the food. It was divine, as you would expect, from an authentic chef prepared meal. Walked up to the concierge and saw my name welcoming me for a visit. I was immediately greeted by the residential sales person. I explained my situation with my husband and that I was unable to provide the mental stimulation that he needed to live his best life. They offered a tour of the whole facility and I met most of the people who work here. My husband doesn’t have many physical needs. His needs are mostly mental stimulation and I felt that Sunrise would be a perfect fit for him. They offer some type of mental and/or physical activity for every level of care. I had been contemplating this type of move for about 3 years. Every time I thought about it, my heart would break into a thousand pieces. The day I left him here, I thought I would breakdown but left with a smile on my face. My husband was happy and content. The caregivers are the most gentle, kind and dedicated group of people that I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting, the food is just delicious and we could not be happier. And most of all, I feel like my husband has actually become more engaged in his everyday life.
