A lovely and caring facility designed to provide excellent care for assisted living and memory care residents -- I especially love the memory care monikers Reminiscence, Reminiscence Plus, and Reminiscence Plus Plus. The activities and staff provide wonderful hourly activities to keep residents engaged. I would especially like to single out Ashleigh Romero and Jessie Herson. Jessie first introduced me to Sunrise Lincoln Park (SLP) and gave me a personal tour and information. Ashleigh gave a great virtual tour to my sister-in-law Laurie (from Maryland) and myself.

When I read reviews whether for a restaurant or another business, I take two things into consideration. If a very positive one it could be from family, a friend, or an employee. If a negative one, it could be a disgruntled employee. But I also keep in mind that I'm unaware of their background and their knowledge or lack of regarding the item they are reviewing. Im the daughter to the past review showing a bruised tenant along with the scathing review. I was also her POA, retired, and live a couple of blocks from Sunrise so I visited unannounced on an average of three time a week. Actually, I started visiting sunrise at least a year before moving my mom there to ensure I was confident to leave her in their care. My mom had several younger friends since she retired at 90 after working for school for 44 years. So she also had several friends visiting some multiple times. Besides locally one drove in from Cinninati and back the same day and one flew in from DC twice to visit her. I never thought my mother nor did any of her friends ever think she was abused or neglected in any way. I always observed the treatment and interaction between the staff and other tenants when I visited. I was actually astonish at the unrelentness patience and kindness the staff showed to the tenants even though they were not always kind to the staff. I knew the staff from the kitchen, housekeeping, activities, care takers, nurses, engineers, to the executive management. But to my knowledge the family member who wrote the review as well as other family members visited a few times the year my mom was there. Actually, it is most likely that two of the times they were at Sunrise was only to pick her up and take her out for special occasions/holidays. In all fairness, all except the one who wrote the review were still working and all live outside the city limits in the suburbs. The management did not know them until they met them for the first time at my mom's funeral. The first time a call was made directly to Sunrise by the family was a year after my mom was at Sunrise, a month before her passing. My mom broke her hip a year before she moved to Sunrise at 95. She refused to wear her hearing aides which escalated her dementia and balance loss. She reluctantly started using a cane at 96. After one fall she prematurely tore off a cast and another she refused to wear a sling. This led to her using her left hand to eat although she was right handed. She was already losing her appetite which she told me many years before her mother did at that age. She was always small but the lost of weigh caused further lack of strength and mobility. I spoke with closed friends months before regarding their mom's in assisted living facilities and they all said their mom's had falls at her age. Most people I believe would agree that her hereditary factors come into play with reference to our life expectancy. My mom was 96, her mother died at 96.

I am a house call dentist who has been tending to the residents at Sunrise of Lincoln Park for over three years, coming for emergencies and monthly for routine oral care. Rebekah Zhao, the Director of Nursing, is amazing. I go to over 18 homes, and working with all of the staff, from caregivers to Rebekah, is phenomenal. Caring, respectful, and always willing to jump up and help, no matter what time of day, has been consistent. I don't always get to meet the Director of Nursing. I can't always find staff to help me, or to show them, my dental findings. These two things are definitely NOT happening here. It is a pleasure to walk in and provide care. Could not recommend this home enough.

My MIL was a resident of Sunrise Senior living in Chicago, Illinois (Lincoln Park facility). She moved in there November 2023. She had 3 serious falls, she broke her wrist once, fell in the shower and broke her elbow. In November of 2024, she was found unresponsive in her room. She fell out of bed and they didn’t check on her that evening at all. I am attaching pictures. She had a broken arm and horrible black eyes. She ultimately succumbed to these injuries. At my MIL’s funeral services, a representative from Sunrise - Rebecca, attended the services. She offered her condolences and I responded “It was just too hard for her to recuperate from the fall”. Rebecca responded “Fall? What fall?” I said “the one where she broke her arm and got black eyes”. She gasped and said “Oh honey, she was punching herself!” I don’t think any 96 year old woman, who was probably all of 85 pounds could do this to themself. I had to walk away to not make a scene. While I don’t think there abuse, I can say they do NOT monitor their residents. They don’t care and if you call they won’t answer anything. I wanted her moved to a new facility which would be more of a nursing home and not an assisted living. We were told she doesn’t need that, but she had documented dementia. My husband did not have power of attorney of her health so our hands were tied. Please, please place your loved ones in a different facility. Do not use Sunrise Senior Living in any city.

Our experience at Sunrise has been outstanding. The care team (daily care givers, care managers, nurses) has been outstanding, doing their work with the right heart. Every employee goes above and beyond to help take care of my mother and make us all feel at home at Sunrise. The receptionists, the sales team, the maintenance team, the cleaning team - all go outsides of their direct duties to do what is required to make my mom's home at Sunrise a positive one. I've also been impressed with the providers they bring to round at their care team - HealthPro Heritage OT and PT, Dr. Martin, the podiatrist, etc. Thank you, Sunrise of Lincoln Park!
