Ms Lisa that does cleaning is awesome. We could not make it without Tarsha Watkins. She is the business manager, but makes sure that all the residents are taken good care of. She is the most friendly person. She can do anything. Blessed to have her. The nurse on Sunday Shannon makes sure the residents are happy. Kim that works every other weekend for activities is above and beyond the call of duty. The kitchen manager has some great food for the residents. Mr Joseph does whatever it takes to make sure the residents clothes and rooms are in top shape.

Sycamore Place was and is the "right place" at the "right time" for my Mom. She is now 89 and had been in a memory care facility in AR for a couple years, however, the disease and her condition were deteriorating. She needed a higher level of care than than that facility could offer. After looking at many facility alternatives in AR and TN we selected Sycamore Place. The STAFF is GREAT, Mom's care is excellent and she seems to enjoy the facilities and interaction with others. Covid has NOT been a major problem for the residents and staff which is not the case in some other facilities. We have been at Sycamore for about two years now and our experience proves we made the "right choice" for Mom!

Sycamore Place is an outstanding facility that offers residents with memory care needs a safe and professional home. I have the responsibility of caring for my late husband’s mother who began having memory deficits slowly then progressing to the point of requiring around the clock care for her wellbeing and safety. I had to move her from her hometown to Memphis so that I could adequately oversee the care she required. I am a registered nurse and know that unfortunately not all facilities are equal when it comes to the care and dignity of residents who are totally dependent on others for their wellbeing. I am a Memphian as well and I began my search for the “best place” that would extend exceptional care for my mother in law. From the beginning, walking into Sycamore Place was impressive from “start to finish” of the tour they offered me. It was not only a beautiful facility but was well planned logistically for someone with memory deficits to provide safety and security. Moving someone into a new home is challenging not only for the resident but for the loved one who leaves them behind entrusting their family member to others. Sycamore Place provides a lovely furnished room with basic necessities such as linens but allows you the freedom to personalize your loved ones room to provide familiarity which is very helpful in transition for a memory challenged person. The entire staff at Sycamore Place has demonstrated “especially during this recent pandemic” that they have standards that are high and hold all accountable to give the best possible care to the residents. Very soon after my mother in law was living at Sycamore Place she became part of a family. Every staff person became immediately involved with her to understand who she was as a person and to learn how best to meet her daily needs. Every quarter there is a professional care plan meeting with me to review any changes and concerns regarding my mother in law’s care. The nurses always alert me to any concerns by phone and keep me informed of my mother in law’s status. For example, they called to alert me to the first Covid case in the facility and how my mother in law would be cared for. This is an extra ordinary challenge as daily memory challenged residents simply cannot understand why their caregiver is now wearing a face mask. The administrator of this facility has done an outstanding job to oversee this facility with all the many challenges that 2020 brings to health care. I am very proud to say that I would recommend Sycamore Place to someone who is unable to care for their loved one who has been affected by memory loss. Unfortunately the facility was required to make some very hard decisions regarding in person visitation but are being compliant with the Shelby County Health Department standards. However, they have provided alternative ways for one to visit your loved one such as Video chats (headphones to assist with hearing deficits) and Window Visits with a speaker to talk to your loved one. The staff at Sycamore Place are truly my heroes! My gratitude is immeasurable to all who serve there to care for my sweet but oftentimes challenging mother in law. I am blessed for her to be a part of the Sycamore Place Family. Sincerely, Ellen Turner Martin

When my mother’s dementia necessitated her move from the Chicago area to a memory care facility closer to us here in Memphis, my first thought was how were we ever going to find the right place for Mom if we could not do an in-person visit during this time of Covid? I researched, requested information, and connected with several places that seemed to meet our requirements. I did virtual tours, phone interviews, and asked a lot of questions. They all offered something for Mom, but when it finally came down to making the decision which one would be the best fit for her and where she would be happiest, Sycamore Place stood out from the rest. My first contact with Sycamore Place was with Becky Anderson, Community Resource Director. It was heartening to find that her professionalism and willingness to work with us, was only exceeded by her genuine kindness, caring, and understanding of our situation. We have since discovered that that kindness and caring is also mirrored by the rest of the staff, and very much appreciated not only by our family, but also by my mother. As Mom has told us on numerous occasions, “They are very good to me here and very hard working. Such nice people.” High praise from my 97 year old mom! Sycamore Place has gone out of their way to care for Mom’s needs. They have wonderful facility that feels more like “home,” offering programs seven days a week to engage her mentally, physically, and socially. Most importantly, they truly care about her as a person, even on her most difficult days. Let’s face the facts, there are difficult days…and it’s at those times we especially appreciate the professional care and kindness Mom receives from the Sycamore Place staff. As a family, we not only thankful for how well they take care of Mom, but also how well they communicate with us regarding her care. Even with the challenges of maintaining strict Covid restrictions, Sycamore Place has been a true partner in working with us to make Mom’s transition to their memory care facility as seamless and as painless a process as possible. Though it’s never an easy decision for any family, Sycamore Place was the right one for Mom and for us.
