I had the best experience at Birches of Newtown. It was clean and had a warm, inviting feel. Their executive director, Lakia, is wonderful. She made me feel at home and spent time answering all of my questions. The residents were all smiling and happy. I would highly recommend you visit here if you are looking for a home for a loved one !!

Terrible place to live. Cold dinners, no nutrition. Temperature in room difficult to control. “Aids” don’t respond to emergencies until they are tracked down. Then they bring their home drama to your room. No privacy, ie. knocking on doors, “Medics” are not trained medical staff. Just computer trained. Given a box mattress to sleep on. Was treated like a child with no rights. Was double billed for medication and now that I’m gone, can’t get anyone on phone to respond or resolve. I can not recommend the Birch’s and will never go back there myself again!

I had the pleasure of touring The Birches at Newtown today and was so impressed. From the moment I arrived, the community felt warm, welcoming, and full of heart. It’s a beautiful location tucked right in Bucks County. Betsy, the Marketing Director, was so kind and informative — you can tell she genuinely cares about the families she works with. If you’re exploring senior living or memory care options for a loved one, The Birches is definitely worth a visit

I have a good story to tell you about the Birches… My father ended up here in March of this year (2024) after being in hospitals and rehabs for 3 months due to continuous falls. He was pretty beat up and very frail when he arrived. The staff immediately took him in and took over his care. I live in Newtown and was there every day, but the staff really led the effort to convalesce him. My family and I (after much deliberation) decided to put him on hospice care. Best decision we could have possibly made. We had so many different resources available to us suddenly. My dad was in even better care than before and an angel named Cay from Gentiva hospice took over his care and counseled our family. It was truly life saving. My father passed away peacefully and comfortably on May 16, 2024. We were shattered, but the entire hospice team was there for us… and our mother, his wife of almost 70 years. She was still living in their small house in Buckingham Springs (a wonderful over 55 community). Our family decided we needed to move my mom into the Birches, she fought us for several months. I became fed up in mid July and just picked her up and brought her there and stayed with her for the first twelve hours or so. The next morning I came over to see her and she was already off and running. Making friends, learning the routine’s, etc. I realized she was so lonely living at her former house with literally no one to talk to since my dad was gone. It is now almost mid December and my mom is thriving! She has a close circle of friends that spend all day together. When I visit her I spend time with her friends daughters and sons that also visit at the same time. It’s one big happy family. I cannot say enough good things about the staff at the Birches. The caregivers know my mom very well and are always letting me know the slightest thing they notice regarding her physical or mental health. My mom is very safe, well taken care of, and loved at the Birches. Her meals in their beautiful dining room are excellent as well. The Birches is not a large facility, so when you call their main number to inquire about your mother or father, the receptionist will respond with something like “she just went outside to sit on the front porch with her friends to enjoy the sun”. It’s very comforting to know. I was there on Friday of last week to visit and walked into a full blown party with an Elvis impersonator. I’m not sure who enjoyed it more, myself or the residents. If you are thinking of a place for your elderly parent, at least stop by and check out this one. I toured many, and NONE compared to warm feeling I got at the Birches

I can’t begin to tell you how grateful I and my family are for the wonderful, loving care provided to my father during his assisted-living residency at the Birches. I am in awe of the high level of care he received from everyone there. It is so apparent that the staff not only does their jobs well, but does them with the utmost level of respect and tender care from their hearts. Though he never wanted to leave his home, the best testimony was when my father thanked me for bringing him to the Birches. He told me that he was very happy there. For the first time in years he gained new friendships, engaged in many community activities and ate three great meals every day. Thank you Birches, you are truly angels! Lynn Goodwin
