THE RESIDENCE AT PRESQUE ISLE BAY

The Residence at Presque Isle is a beautiful place to be. The caring and compassionate staff in memory care have been wonderful and welcoming to my father. I am a RN with a masters degree and am extremely impressed having visited a number of places in my lifetime. They engage him various activities and help him with personal care everything from bathing to clothing. This is not as easy as it looks even though my father is helpful and not adverse to it. The room itself overlooks the bay and is well furnished and the housekeeping staff is awesome. The managers are up front about what they are licensed to do which is very important if they need more assistance. For example, they can do two person lifts which in some places are licensed to only do only one person lifts. They do everything but IV therapy, trachea care, vents which some of it you would have home health anyway (visiting nurses) take care of. They have a license nurse on the floor and with only 18 residences. They are extremely responsive to my questions and provide accurate answers. Also, I have dealt with private duty care which is not always the answer if your parent is more active and wants to remain social.

We looked at several places before deciding on The Residence at Presque Isle Bay. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. They answer our questions and have always been very accommodating with any thing we ask for help with. Lindsey has especially been helpful with us applying to our long term insurance. Our loved one really is settling in and likes the facility and says she has never had a bad meal. I cannot thank everyone who works there enough for their love and compassion they show to all the residents.

Every time we come to visit my grandmother she is filthy! Dried food stuck all over her face. Her hands and nails never washed. No one answers the call bell and she is losing so much weight because she can no longer feed herself and staff is not feeding her. Her meals are placed on a tray in front of her and left. Her drinking cups are never clean and water is never cold. She can no longer use her cups without assistance and was told last week she would be getting new ones that she may be able to use on her own. They never came. She is not getting her basic needs met. She did not live for 90 years to end up somewhere like this. Just forgotten in a room. Staff should be trying to make here end of life comfortable and handled with compassion. They do not see my grandmother as a person.

When canvassing the Erie area to find a place to assist my aging mother, who needed some extra help she did not want to accept from family, I reached out to numerous facilities. Our concern was that by insisting on living alone, my mother was becoming a shut-in. I wanted to find a place where she could retain the independence she could manage in a safe environment. From my first interaction with The Residence at Presque Isle Bay, I knew this was the place for my mother. Linsley is positive, informative, and very responsive. She was understanding of my apprehension and patiently addressed all my concerns. Linsley put together an individualized plan to meet my mother’s needs. When Mom moved in, we noticed her immediate relief. The tasks she had fought to hold on to were being handled by friendly staff. She loves the dining options and the food quality. She often remarks on the generous portions and variety of choices. She is attending most of the plentiful activities they offer. She has made friends she enjoys visiting with daily. The facility is clean and well-maintained. My mother can be very exacting, and the maintenance gentleman has gone above and beyond in addressing my mother’s anomalous requests. Lastly, the staff is well-trained to respond in an emergency. Their response to a triggered alarm was spot-on. I work in the building/construction safety industry and was impressed. This question cannot be answered until you see it in real time. Your loved one can enjoy all the amenities at The Residence at Presque Isle Bay, but are they safe? The answer is a resounding "yes." Linsley remarked during our preliminary conversations that many notice improvement when moving to The Residence at Presque Isle Bay. She was correct. My mother is now on a regular sleep schedule, eating regular meals, taking her medications on time, and engaging in more social interactions. These also provide her with physical activity. With gratitude, I can attest that this went from a harrowing task to the best decision I made for my mother.

My mother moved into the Residence in October 2025, although I had been in contact work them much earlier than that. Everyone I dealt with was very patient, professional and a pleasure to deal with. My mom had been very reluctant about moving in but recent health issues finally forced her to consider. Within a week she has told me she loves it there and glad she did move. She loves the food and the activities. They have a great view of the bay which was a selling point for my mom. I had looked at other places in Erie and I am convinced the Residence is the best option in the area. Knowing mom is being well taken care of is a relief to our family.
