THE RESIDENCE AT SELLECK'S WOODS

SW is overall a good option for senior care and assisted living. The staff is as a whole nice and caring. The one issue we had was when our parent was experiencing early dementia and the head nurse became involved. Sellecks could do a better job training the whole staff, not just the memory care staff on patience and understanding with early dementia. One waiter would get frustrated w/our parent, but a couple were understanding and would joke with them. Our parent was not ready for memory care but the head nurse threatened to medicate them with "a benzo" if there were any behavior issues. Benzo's are contraindicated for dementia, can exacerbate and accelerate the condition. Thankfully we had a wonderful geriatrician who was ready to fight for our parent and offered to talk to head nurse about what to do and what not to do and explain to her that memory care was not appropriate for the stage of dementia they were in. It's a cautionary tale for anyone dealing with a place like Selleck's. Private doctors should help guide you in dealing with treatment of your parent, not anyone on staff at the Residence. Another recommendation for anyone, is do not take your loved one to see the dentist who travels to Selleck's. They were uncaring, not thorough, and offered unnecessary, over-priced treatments. There was one woman in a wheelchair with advanced dementia without anyone to advocate for her during the visit. I think someone at least from Sellecks should have stayed with her if a family member could not be present.

The peace of mind Selleck’s Woods has given our family is priceless. Knowing that our mother is safe, respected, and thriving in such a caring community means everything. What truly sets this center apart is the personalized attention each resident receives. The staff takes the time to get to know each individual’s needs, preferences, and personality. The dining options are top-notch—healthy, delicious, and accommodating to dietary needs. Highly recommend it to anyone.

We recently moved Mom into Reflections, the memory care community at Selleck’s Woods, and we received incredible support from the team. From the assessment of her needs to planning for her care to the logistics of her move, Selleck’s Woods has been a wonderful partner to our family. I particularly want to call out Mohammed, who leads operations/maintenance. I worked closely with him to ensure Mom’s apartment was set up (curtains installed/paintings up) before she arrived on site to see her new apartment. Mo went above and beyond to get the job done on time and showed such compassion when introducing Mom to her new space. On an emotionally challenging day for us, Mo, Dawn, Julia, and the entire Selleck’s Woods team made Mom’s transition happen as smoothly as was possible. We are so grateful.

My parents are so happy to be part of the Community at The Residence at Selleck’s Woods. While they are fond of their apartment, the terrace is their favorite place- just spectacular and the efforts to put together a unique garden have yielded truly amazing results.The staff SW are engaged and communicate with my parents on a personal level which we all appreciate and enjoy. There is a strong sense of community among the residents themselves, and I am happy that my parents have made so many nice friends.

My 100 year old father recently moved into The Residence at Selleck's Woods and I couldn't be happier with the move. The staff are all very warm and welcoming, always making time to chat with him and with us as family members. The other residents have been equally warm and welcoming to him. The residence is lovely. His apartment is roomy, bright and perfect for his needs. The food is excellent as well. I feel very secure that his safety and physical needs are being well assessed and taken care of. As an elderly, long term widower who has lived alone and independently for many years we were concerned about how he would react to assisted living in a senior facility, but he seems very happy at Selleck's Woods and interacts enjoyably with staff and other residents daily. This is truly a wonderful senior residence.
