The Terraces at Brookmeade

Beware!! Dollars are valued over residents. There are significant disconnects between administration and caregivers. They are grossly understaffed! After several falls (which they did not report to us) our loved one was sent to the hospital. At the hospital his functioning level decreased, the "great" staff at Brookmeade informed us he was no longer appropriate for the facility. After that they let us know we would be required to give 30 days notice! So in essence, they would not allow his return and charged us the $9,000 "rent". They were kind enough to give us a credit of just over $100 for meals, that's about $5.00 per day! How generous. ISSUES WE ENCOUNTERED - Not reporting falls -Cleaning Issues - for a month the apartment smelled like putrefied urine - we found fecal matter on the sheets on several occasions - carpets were so dirty we rented a carpet cleaner at the local grocery store -Revolving door of Aides -Poor food quality - I mean really poor! -Consistently NOT returning calls. -Little to no activities Its now been 30 days since we left, no one and I mean NO ONE will return our calls and they are still holding our deposit. On a closing note, I spoke with the administrator one week ago today. The call gave me great hope that after all of this they may choose to do the right thing. I was promised a call back Monday (5 days ago), which came and went. Giving the benefit of the doubt I left another message yesterday (Thursday). Still nothing!

Nice , small community feeling. Lovely setting , nice apartments for assisted living. Staff is great and they were with my Dad every step of the way, to the end. They supported us as well. Hugs to all of them!
