My beloved 90 year old mother was a resident at Theresa’s Home Care recently after she fell and broke her hip. My mom had visited a friend of hers that was a resident there years ago and my mom always told me that’s where she wanted to go when she needed a place because Theresa and her staff took such good care of her friend. Placing my mom there when she needed cared for was the best decision! My family and I were very pleased with the care mom received. Theresa and her staff were wonderful and gave mom a lot of 1:1 attention and they truly cared about her. They also showed a lot of compassion for me and my siblings as we navigated through our mom’s end of life situation. The house is very nice and accessible and mom had a beautiful large window in her room overlooking a very pretty outdoor setting. Unfortunately mom did pass away but I was comforted knowing Theresa was by her bedside all night sharing her grace and compassion. I highly recommend Theresa’s home and I can’t thank Theresa and her staff enough for all they did!

We admitted my grandmother here but took her somewhere else shortly after we found out some shocking problems with this home. We found out that Theresa's Home is constantly under close scrutiny by the State due to major issues. The onsite care taker told us that Theresa has been investigated for resident abuse and that Theresa has admitted to abusing patients. The State even withdrew her certification a few years ago and then after a fight and appeals, she finally received the certification back now on probationary status. This explains why she has so few patients. The State mandated that all her residents be transferred to other facilities a few years ago when she lost certification status and now she is essentially starting over. The Care taker told us that the few workers at this home aren't being paid on time and Theresa does not have any round the clock nursing services. The few staff members know nothing about medicine. She has another location in Gurnee, and is no different, same problems. I would choose another place.

Theresa runs this place, including the care of patients. She has no medical experience or degrees and is elderly herself. She is not a RN, but uses a part-time RN when available. My elderly aunt lived here. Being very old, my aunt would repeatedly ask for things and I suppose she irritated Theresa because I found out from the Illinois Department of Public Health that they investigated this home and cited the home because among other deficiencies, including the lack of a consistent RN on site, Theresa was seen by one pf the part time RNs to have actually slapped my aunt! Our family was in disbelief. Reportedly this home had also lost its license to house patients around the pandemic due to unsanitary and poor infection control. I would high recommend you look elsewhere and do not put your loved one in this home.
