Incredibly helpful making my father feel welcome and ready to assist with his transition of living alone home to the comfortable, safe and fun environment Hollybrook provides.

I have no family there yet but I visited to get a good picture of what they have in terms of helping my father live with Alzheimer’s. The Executive Director gave me a personal tour and answered all my questions. The memory care residents seemed happy, contented, and were friendly to us as we walked around. I guess a fresh face was novel. It’s certainly more affordable than other places I’ve consulted. I hope to be able to get my father a placement there as soon as we my folks are financially able to do so.

The Villas of Hollybrook located in Bethalto presents itself as a relatively new, faith based facility. It is a lovely, physical environment. Unfortunately, that’s as far as it goes. My parents have lived there for approximately 1.5 years. During that time the quality of the meals has regressed; the number of qualified staff has decreased; the housekeeping and maintenance are poor and the internet is extremely poor. Numerous complaints have been given with a promise that the problem will be resolved in two weeks. After a year, still waiting. Due to medications being missed, I have taken that responsibility away from the staff. The majority of the CNA’s are very loving and caring but they are not properly trained and are working 12 hour shifts with approximately three - four caring for 50+ residents. In order to feel secure about my parents’ care, I have hired a personal caregiver for daytime hours and I spend the nights often. It is extremely difficult to find a good assisted living facility but I would not consider this one unless you only need independent care and have the ability to get your meals from local eateries. The two stars given are for the members of the staff who remain in order to protect and care for the residents.

Moving parents into assisted living is never easy but the entire staff at The Villas Bethalto has been kind and accommodating throughout and has made this change so smooth for my family. The facility is modern, sparkling clean, and full of amenities - from serene places to sit down if you get tired walking to lunch to a movie theater. It is a wonderful place and I am so glad we found it. Our parents continue to rave about how nice everyone is - highly recommended.
