Our initial interaction with The Village was positive - during a very stressful time of a loved one with a terminal diagnosis. We were told to our faces, following a tour, that they would accept our family member, who had a Medicaid pending status and we had been very transparent about this. They assured us they would be getting her admitted within a few days and had already reviewed the medical records. A couple of days after the in-person meeting, a director from The Village reached out to say that an erroneous communication had been made to the hospital that they would not accept our family member, but The Village said that was an error, would look into it and follow up with us. That was the last we heard from The Village. We found out shortly after that The Village felt that our family member would pass away before they could be approved for Medicaid and get reimbursement - which is a fair enough reason - however, they should have NEVER assured us that they would be accepting our family member and raised our hopes of good care for final stages of life. Based on this - be careful and cautious with your communications with The Village.

We took a chance on bring my mother out to Indianola to be near me for Rehabilitation because the hospital said they were a Baratric capable facility. Boy were they mistake! My mother was cleared to walk the day she left the hospital. But The Village did not have enough Physical Therapists to assist my mother who at 450lbs to stand. It takes a minimum of 3 Therapists to be present at all times during the session. The one gentle man was not capable of doing it on his own so he Several times did teams of staff try to move here using cloth chucks. No fault of their own they would injurt their self than remove themselves off of my mother's service. Leaving her with less people to care for her. They were not able to produce a slide mat until the last day and they provided one that the ER's use for single patient use. When we asked the Director of Nursing what being a Baratric facility mean she said we have a bed and a hoyer! They left my mom alone, to get sick horribly with a UTI. Which now Over a month later I have found out they diagnosed her with Dementia with out any proper consultation from a neurologist but like a Nurse who just did a check list and made a recommendation to a doctor. I DONT THINK SO! THAN TO NOT TO MENTION IT TO THE POA! Way to pass the puck. The food was inedible. My mom lost 50lbs simply because she refused to eat grey meat. I dont blame her. The grilled cheese was rubber. Patients in the basement are treated like second rate citizens while those upstairs are treated like royalty. I wonder who has the money and who has medicare? Upstairs was having HyVee catered in at that time. If you care about your parent or loved one stay away. Yes this place looks nice upstairs, God staff is very nice. But the management is totally corrupt and are not in it to take care of your loved ones. Ask any of the staff there. They are more than happy to sing their management's disgrace to anyone who is willing to listen. When management won't even treat their own employees right it is a long shot they will treat the residents any better. Just avoid it all together until management is replaced.

Our mother who has dementia was finally diagnosed and we were fortunate enough to get her into The Willows at The Village. They have helped her adjust and shown her such compassion and care.

Your place is awesome! I know our mom would feel welcomed and taken care of! Amber did an excellent job of explaining everything during our tour. Thank you!

I wouldn't give this place 1 star. They don't advocate for the residents, they don't try to do whats best for the resident. They don't inform or give family any of the rules/policies of the facility, we have asked at least 3 times to get copies, I was told "we don't give them out to the public" They ignored the MPOA when placing my family member, didn't even tell me she was there. They are completely in it for the money, wanting to fill and keep their bed filled whether a resident needs to be there or not doesn't matter.
