New owners took over. The elevator didn't work. Told them about it they lied about it. And when they did it broke again. Wouldn't recommend this place.

My father is a resident at Winthrop Memory Care before that he lived a short time in the independent living area and we loved it. There were some people there that my father knew and some he hadn’t seen since his childhood, that was fun. Let me start by saying the rooms are very small, the bathrooms are large and handicap accessible. The room gets cleaned once a week. Daily trash removal and they wash his clothes. Winthrop is very clean, the courtyard area is very nice for when we visit, beautiful flowers and shrubs. The residences are fed (3) meals a day and of anyone has ever eaten at the Piccadilly’s restaurant in Rome you know the food is good. They give his medicines to him as required by his doctor. They have several living areas with large couches and chairs for the family to sit and visit. The staff get know the patients on a very personal level, at first I thought no one can take care of my father like I do so I’m the beginning it was hard to let go, I always wanted him up and dressed because that’s how it use to be, but not so much anymore. His body wants to sleep more and the staff recognizes that and let’s him sleep if he doesn’t want up for a meal they save for when he’s ready. Oh did I meant, he has stage 4 stomach cancer and some of the staff have experienced this with their own families so, they know what his body is dealing with. I call everyday to check in on him when I’m unable to visit. Earl my brother and several friends of ours and additional family visit often so everyone is in a first name basics and additional eyes always on him. Winthrop isn’t cheap but and we pay out of pocket but this is the best place for our father, we like the people. We can visit as often as we like and stay as long as we want. He can leave with us if he likes no restrictions, but he does have to sign out and we do have to let them know who he is with and when to expect his return home. My brother and I sleep better at night knowing that if something did happen we would be notified and that he’s in good hands. There has been several times he’s tried to get up on his on and has fallen (no one’s fault) but the staff is quick to respond and call the EMT’s, and let us know of any concerns. They do bedroom checks every hour and we keep daddy’s door open all the time because he does have difficulty walking now. There is an ambulance service with EMT’s on staff for emergencies. They also have a staff resident there, he knows everyone and very nice to talk too. If you are considering a change for a loved one, I would recommend Winthrop Court. Please let me know if you want to talk. Katharine R.

My grandfather has lived there for years. The bill continues to increase while the care decreases. Can not get in touch with anyone in a timely manner until you have addressed and fixed the situation yourself. He is a fall risk, but has not been treated as such. After this last fall and staples in his head.... again, the hospital would not release him here, so we had to have new placement in a facility in which you have to have a doctors referral. The hospital and his PCP put in the paperwork for the move. I spoke to Winthrop, and they are charging him for the upcoming month, even though it was out of our control, due to a 30 day required notice to move. They are rude when you express your concerns, despite a professional and respectful approach on your part. For the love of your loved ones, don’t go here. The staff put up these positive reviews.

As an RN, I am so blessed to take care of the best residents in Rome, GA! I also have an amazing connection with their family members and friends. The residents love one another and truly enjoy each other's company. I am blessed to be a part of the Winthrop Family!

The move into a senior living community is not to be taken lightly. You want more than just a place to live. You want a home. I am a senior adult and have been a part of the Winthrop community for 11 years. I might be a bit biased in my opinion but I also know something to be true. Winthrop Court is a place you can call home. It houses a group of residents and a top notch staff that are more than just people who live and work here. They are a family. That is what makes this community a home. This morning I tragically lost a very special young family member. I was devastated. It has only been a few hours but I have already been surrounded by love and understanding by not only my neighbors here but by the staff as well. That is what communities such as this should be. That is what is needed when changes in life occur. That is what lives here at Winthrop Court. That my friends is “The Winthrop Way!”
