After my dad died in 2019, my brother and I looked at several places to decide where to move our mom. We liked what we saw at Woodland Heights, and it fit within her retirement budget, so we moved her in. She loved it. She immediately made new friends and found an actively lifestyle at Woodland Heights, which organizes events every day for its residents including crafts, book clubs, card games, bingo, ice cream socials, movie screenings, a billiards room, live music performed in the atrium and happy hour. It also runs a shuttle to places like a grocery store. It's certainly not cheap, with my mom paying about $3,400 a month for an independent living apartment on the top floor. But the cost of meals was included, and my mom often raved about how great the food was. She really enjoyed living there. Then cancer returned and she declined quickly over the span of six months. She didn't want to leave the place where she felt comfortable and eventually hospice care was needed in the last six weeks of her life, with people from LifeTouch Health coming to her apartment at Woodland Heights every day. She died as comfortably as possible there, which is how she wanted it. After cancer had returned, we considered moving her to an assisted living floor, which is about twice as expensive. We were preparing to do that so that she could have 24/7 care when it became apparent she was dying. Through all that, the staff at Woodland Heights was wonderful. The place doesn't seem to have a lot of staff turnover, so everyone knew my mom from her days when she was still active and healthy. Everyone would ask how she was doing when I started needing to come over every afternoon to make sure she had what she needed. They recommended caregivers who I hired to provide the additional care that my mom needed. The facility delivering meals to my mom's room after she was no longer able to get around was great. The person who cleaned my mom's room was caring and would text me when he noticed things my mom needed that I was unaware of. Woodland Heights isn't really set up for someone as sick as my mom became, but as long as I had outside people coming in to provide the care that she needed, they worked with me. She didn't want to go to a nursing home — and I saw several places that were very disturbing. I'm thankful my mom spent her last seven years at Woodland Heights. After seeing many couples there, I wished I had thought of suggesting she and my dad move there while he was still alive. They would have been much more comfortable than trying to maintain a house and a yard. The independent living floors are very comfortable for seniors, and having plenty of engaging things for them to do without leaving the building is wonderful. Based on what I saw, it's a great place for people who now have a harder time getting around.

The dedicated staff creates a warm, welcoming place for individuals to live. Each time I visit, I enjoy seeing residents thriving, whether it be during game time, Mahjong hour, yoga, or an excursion to participate in a Mardi Gras parade. What a wonderful, family atmosphere!

Woodland Heights Assisted Living has been a true blessing for our family and, most importantly, for my mom. From the moment we first walked through the doors, we felt welcomed, supported, and reassured that we were making the right choice. The staff goes above and beyond every single day. They treat my mom with genuine kindness, respect, and patience—like she’s part of their own family. It’s clear that they truly care about the residents’ well-being, not just their basic needs. Whether it’s helping with daily tasks, sharing a warm conversation, or noticing small changes in her routine, they are always attentive and compassionate. The facility itself is clean, safe, and beautifully maintained. My mom loves the cozy atmosphere, the delicious meals, and the variety of activities offered. She’s more engaged and socially active than she has been in years, which brings so much peace of mind to our family. What I appreciate most is the communication. The staff keeps us informed and involved, and they are always available to answer questions or address concerns. It’s clear they take pride in providing excellent care. Choosing Woodland Heights was one of the best decisions we’ve made. Knowing my mom is happy, comfortable, and truly cared for means everything. I highly recommend Woodland Heights Assisted Living to any family searching for a supportive, compassionate, and trustworthy place for their loved one.

I am so impressed and delighted with Woodland Heights. The facility has extremely attentive caregivers and nurses and the admin staff is most helpful and thorough in meeting our needs. The facility is so well maintained and always smells so nice. You can tell the residents love being there and are continually stimulated with fun and interesting activities. One thing that stands out is how much the staff treat the residents with dignity and respect. WH staff are the perfect blend of professional and compassionate. It's the place I felt such peace about leaving my loved one in their care. In fact, when it came time for another loved one move from home, we looked no further. We chose it not once, but twice when we found ourselves in need of their services. The location is extremely convenient for daily check ins which puts my mind at ease. I truly believe they care for our loved ones and that is a great reassurance.
