I think the whole history and structure of New Horizons as a nonprofit entity of the Cummings Foundation lets it shine in a way that is very unique. It may not have some of the flashier offerings of newer facilities, but it has a warm, intimate feeling, with many long time employees and a wonderful management staff that really care and enjoy their work. It is most assuredly not sterile and corporate-feeling, and my mother-in-law has enjoyed New Horizons for 7 years.

We can't say enough great things about New Horizons at Choate. My 98-year-old mother-in-law moved in this Fall and the facility, programs and especially the staff couldn't be nicer. They make everyone feel special and taken care of - even the families of the residents. Christine runs a superb organization - you can tell her warm and attentive style has left its mark on everyone there.

New Horizons is not only amazing, it is extraordinary. Our mother has been a resident for over 4 years & to this day she continues to talk about how wonderful the place is. From the kitchen staff to Christine, the Director, the employees are warm & caring. If our mother unexpectedly doesn’t arrive for a meal, someone is at her door, to check on her. Management is just a phone call away & is always there to help answer questions. New Horizons still maintains a homey, welcoming environment. It feels like you are walking into your living room, yet management’s door is right there & always open. They know everyone by name & truly care about every resident. There isn’t a day that goes by that we don’t all feel blessed to have found New Horizons.

New Horizons at Choate has provided my 94 year old mother with a caring, friendly and safe environment. She thinks the world of the people who provide her care, from the food staff and maintenance people right up to the administrators. Moving into new surrounding is never an easy task, but she has transitioned well and that's a real compliment to New Horizons. We couldn't be happier with mom's experience and the lifestyle that they provide.

My mother, Janet Mercer, has been a completely satisfied member of the New Horizons at Choate family for 11 years. We celebrated her 98 th birthday there this past October and I can honestly say there is no place my mother would rather be. Everyone that works at New Horizons from the front desk to the kitchen and custodial staff is 100% invested in helping and supporting the residents that live there. For my mom this is home and the management team that works here is unbelievable. They have somehow managed to successfully manage themselves and everyone living there through these unprecedented days and months of this pandemic safely, which I find remarkable, but it’s a testament to the level of commitment they make to everyone in their care. Christine, Lisa, Barbara, Trisha and Magdalena are all part of the management team here and they really make a difference in making sure that New Horizons does everything it can to foster well being in their unique community. Not only does New Horizons feel like home it is also immaculately kept. The grounds are always groomed with beautiful flowers and the facilities are spotless. I feel so comfortable knowing that my mother is in a place that really cares about it’s residents and I know I can pick up the phone and call anyone there and they will go out of their way to try and help me. The people and the amenities are fantastic. This is more than a place for people to live in their later years, this is home.
