River Mills Assisted Living at Chicopee Falls

My mother moved in late December 2024. The only reason I gave it 2 stars is she seems to be getting decent care. I worked the contract with Alex and was provided terms that I could work into my mother’s budget. On Day 1 of her stay they increased the rate 25% without even notifying me. $101,000 per year!! A month later they claimed the increase was due to her requiring additional services. I am not sure how they can justify this as they interviewed my mother while she was at a rehabilitation facility prior to coming to River Mills. They also had the assessments from the rehabilitation facility. They had all the information to know what services she needs. Per the CONTRACT they are to provide a 30 day notice of an increase in price/service. They failed to do this. BREACH. To this day I have not been able to get the account credited. Pursuant to them breaching the contract I put in my termination. Now the executive director is threatening to charge her an additional 2 months of rent. This is unethical and immoral to treat elderly like this. This is stealing!! Find a facility that treats your loved ones with respect!

My mother lives at River Mills. We love the care she receives. The director team and staff is always welcoming and extremely reachable. She receives great care and we know she is safe. Doesn't matter what day of the week or time of day we know we can always reach the Executive Director, Jaime. Alex made everything smooth to help her transition in. I would highly recommend the community to anyone who is looking for a loving and safe environment for their parent.

My Sister-in-law, has been living at River Mills for a year and a half. She absolutely loves it there. My wife and I are impressed with the knowledgeable and caring staff. The grounds, rooms and amenities are amazing. Looks like a 4 star hotel. When she first started living there the Director in charge was not effective. The new Director, Jaime, is amazing. She gives 120% of herself to the residents. You can tell she truly cares about the resident’s comfort, care and happiness. Alex also made all the intake documentation seamless and is always helpful too. I highly recommend River Mills Assisted Living to any family looking to place a family member there.

My MIL has been a resident in the memory care side, Connections, since June. We were truly blessed to find River Mills. She was confined at her old home due to wandering. Now she socializes, exercises and works on little projects. She is always clean and well dressed. And takes her meds as directed! Staff interaction has been great. They chose their care "team" well and we always leave feeling she is living her best life at River Mills.

This is the third assisted living facility my mother has been in this year and it is the ONLY one where we felt like they actually cared about her as a human being. They called me the day after we moved her in to let me know how she was doing, which no facility had ever done. Everyone from management down to the staff treats her with respect and compassion, and they encourage me to call or come by any time, which I do. They have been able to convince her to bathe and change her clothes regularly, which she was not doing at the other facilities. They even sent her flowers welcoming her to River Mills. When I have questions or concerns, they address them timely and they keep me updated with any concerns they have. My mother has become friendly with several of the other residents and is the most content and happy I have seen her in a long time. I highly recommend River Mills and am so thankful we found it!
