We did not have a good experience at Sunrise of Cohasset. We needed a place for our mom to stay while her home care person was on vacation/leave for a month. During her short stay she contracted a UTI, fell multiple times resulting in broken bones, and ended up in the hospital twice due to these issues. Our mom was in pretty good shape when we checked her into the facility but passed away within a few weeks of her arrival there. Here is an excerpt from a letter from Sunrise after an investigation….”the previous Coordinator overseeing the community was not assigning bathing tasks appropriately “. Profit over care?

My 96yr old Mom, Joan Aalde, has been very well taken care of by all the staff and I have been kept well informed about any changes with her. I feel very lucky to have such a great team taking care of her.

It's been about a year since mom moved into the memory care floor at Sunrise and I couldn't be happier with our choice. Everyone at Sunrise is warm, friendly, hospitable, and respectful. They shower my mother with love and attention. Even with a progressive brain disease, my mother is healthier and happier now than when she was living alone. More importantly, she's safe. I highly recommend Sunrise.

My father lived at Sunrise for 10 months, first in the assisted-living floor, and then subsequently on the memory floor. Overall, we were pleased with the experience and the care that my father received. While he was in an assisted living, we cannot say enough about the staff, the aids, and the nurses. Dad enjoyed the food and had fun engaging with the staff. I would rate it the full five stars! Unfortunately,Dad‘s dementia, progressed to the point where he had to move to the memory floor. Again, I cannot say enough about the nursing staff. They were excellent. I did find that I had to advocate a bit more to get him engaged in activities, as often times dad would just sit in his room. Once I did that, I found the staff to be receptive and responsive. Dad often said how much he enjoyed being there. Overall, I would definitely recommend Sunrise for your loved one. Regardless of where you go, you will need to advocate for your loved one. I found Sunrise to be receptive to feedback and responsive to any items I brought up. Unfortunately, Dad passed in January. We are very comfortable that his final days were spent in a safe clean and caring environment.

My father was in assisted living at another facility when Alzheimer’s started to take its toll. It was so heartbreaking! We moved him to memory care and it was pretty clear early on that we had to move on. This is when I found out about Sunrise through a recommendation. I read the reviews and decided to take a look. The memory care section is very welcoming, and staff was so nice. Rooms have ample space, lots of closet space, and very homey. After checking a number of places out, we decided on Sunrise of Cohasset and I am so glad I did!! I cannot say enough good things about everyone there! Staff greeted him the second he moved in, and I can tell you - someone is always available. Every time I come to visit I get at least one informal report on how my Dad is doing and anytime I have questions someone is there to help. Most important, my Dad continually says how much he likes it here. It can be so stressful to go through a transition like this with a family member. Thank you to everyone at Sunrise for making it sooo much less stressful!
